Letter from Alberta Victoria Sarah Caroline Windsor-Clive to Hugh Allan Pettigrew, 7 October 1911

Oct 7.11

UNLAWATER HOUSE
NEWNHAM-ON-SEVERN
GLOS.

Pettigrew
I'm sorry I could'nt answer your letter before. Will you make the path on the top terrace just in the middle & wide enough for 2 people to walk abreast comfortably. Is the stone for paving it ready for use. If not His Lordship thinks it

[page 2]

would be best to leave the paving to another time as he wants to have as little expense as possible for the present. But if the stone is ready it may as well be put down. Anyhow you had better plant the trees. It would be pretty to plant them on either side following the line of the steps as I have indicated.

[page 3]

If you don't quite understand or there is any difficulty, perhaps you might wait till I come to St Fagans about the 22nd of this month. About the arbors I will make a drawing of something that Mason can do later on. I'm so glad little Freia is well and happy. I hope Shui does'nt bully her. Lady Phyllis is still in Scotland with his Lordship & her young [?]. The weather

[page 4]

has been very bad & has spoiled the party atmosphere[?]. Lady Paget is very much pleased with the strawberries you sent her, the place here is beginning to look very nice. I hope Mrs Pettigrew & the children are well.

Yours faithfully

A[lberta] Plymouth
