Pettigrew,
I have received your letter and think that on the whole
it would be best to postpone the planting of the orchard
to another year as His Lordship does not want to enter
into any extra expenses however small this year & as
you will

have your hands full with the village hall it is best on every account to put it off. As for the swimming bath the estimate that Spiers has made is far too big to think of at present. Even if we do it later on we must see whether it cannot be done for less. His Lordship & the young

gentlemen have been having very good sport altho the weather has has not been as good as last year. I hope everything is going on well at Hewell [Grange]. The carnations you are sending are lovely.
