Biographical notes

Information on date of birth and identity of parents obtained from Margaret's death certificate and the death certificate of her mother, Elizabeth McConnomy. This records the death of her mother at the age of 80 (at Society Street Glasgow), which would put her birth at 1803. This age is suspect as it would mean that Margaret would have been born when her mother was 51. Her father Patrick McConnomy had the occupation of a Traveller and died before his wife. The identity of Elizabeth's father was William Fierrie (Cotton mill Worker). The identity of her mother was unknown (there are blank spaces on the death certificate). Margaret Pettigrew (Elizabeth's daughter), was the informant and has signed with a cross indicating that she was illiterate.
