No evidence in the OPR's for John's birth, but he appears in the 1841 Census, age 61, born in Ayrshire, occupation Woolcarder, born in Ayrshire. He is listed with his wife Marion, age 61 (we know from the OPR that she was born in 1779). They are living in Main Street, Newton-upon-Ayr, with their son John, given age 27 (which matches exactly with his OPR entry), occupation Wool Carder. His wife Ann (nee Shaw), given age 30 (very close to the OPR birth date of 17/06/1810), and their children David Edgar (6), John Edgar (3) and Thomas Edgar (1).
