Biographical notes

Parents given in Oakley register transcription as Robert Allan and Margaret. Unlike her other siblings born in Hampshire, Mary is not listed in the 1841 Scotland census return which might suggest that she died in infancy. A later child with the name Frances (1842) may indicate that Mary Frances had died.
