Biographical notes

Information about Sarah comes from a record of her marriage to John Tillcock in Shoreditch on the 1.10.1860, and before that an 1851 Census return recording her employment as a servant to the family of William Martin Leake at 50, Queen Anne Street, Cavendish Square, Marylebone. She has not been traced in the 1841 Census and there appears to be no surviving parish record of her birth. All other information comes from the Census returns of 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891 and the entry of her death in 1899 at the recorded age of 80.
