Biographical notes

Flora was the first child of John and Elizabeth (probably named after her maternal grandmother) and, apart from the record of her birth/christening in the Newton on Ayr parish records, there is a record of her marriage to John Pollock in 1820. The family is recorded in the 1841 and 1851 Census returns, living close to the other Pettigrews in Content Street (1841), before moving a short distance to nearby Elba Street (1851).
