Biographical notes

Parents are thought to be John Edgar and Marrion McBlane. There are two entries for the birth of Mary Edgar. The first is dated 13/06/1804 and the parents JOHN EDGAR/MARRION MCBLAIN, Girvan. The second entry is dated 22/03/1806 and the parents JOHN EDGAR/MARRION MCBLANE, Girvan. The most likely explanation is that the first child did not survive and the name was then given to the next female born to the same parents.

Mary must have died sometime after the birth of her last child in 1832 and before the marriage of James Pettigrew to Agnes Kennedy in 1839.
