Letter written in pen and ink on one folded sheet of paper, un-dated but inscribed in pencil with the date Oct 1897, from Hugh Allan Pettigrew to his father Andrew Pettigrew. The letter was written at the Castle Gardens St Fagans and records Hugh's first impressions after his appointment as Head Gardener there.
